Well, like I promised, here's the rest.

Also, if the Muppets were to do RENT, Scooter wold be Mark and Floyd would be Roger. I'm quick to wanting Gonzo as Maureen, but hes not as conceided (?) as she is. Miss Piggy would be a better choice and Kermit is a shoe-in for Joanne. Janice would be Mimi, of course. I think Gonzo would make a better Collins. So that leaves us with who the hell would be Angel and Benny?

21) “I should tell you” – Some of the words are different. Still don’t like the Workshop!Roger. The tune changes a little. Another one of my favorite songs (Broadway version, of course). But this is probably workshop!Roger’s best one.

ACT TWO

1) “Voice Mail 3” – No longer “Speeeaak”, it’s Mark telling when the funeral is. Mimi gets a call from the doctor’s office about blood work and a bill. I like it, the lady sounds really robotic and it’s cool. Also Anthony is wonderful as always, just in that voice mail tone. Haha! “If Mimi is not at this number… uh… Happy Halloween!”

2) “Seasons of Love” – Possibly the best sounding song on this whole album. Probably because everyone is blended so well. I think I’ll cry. Go on with out me. There’s no way to ruin this song. Haha! Someone (Jonathan?) “Whoo!” at the end.

3) “Out tonight” – Not one of my favorite songs, but I’ve been skipping over it less. Remember, I don’t really like Daphne, but thanks to this workshop, I’m liking her more and more. “I’ve got an itch/ To be a bitch.” Teehee. Also, I like hearing Ali sing this song. I like the parts intersperse in there, contrasting to Broadway version. For example, Maureen on the phone with Mark: “Mark stop crying! No this is not a phase I’m
going through.” And Maureen and Joanne arguing… And… Angel? Wait, I’m confused. “He loves me/ He loves me more/ He loves me…” is what Angel’s saying. But… Angel’s dead! Mark said so. I don’t think all of these are in order… The heck?

4)“Seasons of love 2” – It’s a verse. Just one. Yeah, this junk is mixed up.

5) “Voice Mail 4/Without you” – I like this song. And Maureen’s singing it now. She’s no Idena. Anyway, Mark/Maureen/Joanne are clearly a most important storyline in this one than the finished B-way version. Maureen’s message machine before the song instructs anyone but Mark to leave a message. Mark hangs up. This is a neat alternative to Roger/Mimi’s “Without you.” Lines are still the same, just Maureen/Joanne.

6) “Voice Mail 5” – Student calling Collins. Collins’ message tone? “We’re going to steal an air conditioner.” Angel: “We’ll be right back.” It’s obviously summer. Angel is obvious still alive and his is obvious not entirely in order.

7) “Contact” – Yeah, the orgy song. Well, not really. I believe them to be in their respective homes, but it’s an awesome set up with the bed turn table thingy and Mark throwing the sheet over everyone. I love how Collins and Angel had fantastic sex and everyone else burns out. And then “It’s over.” *sigh*

8) “I’ll cover you” – The eulogies! They didn’t have this in the Broadway CD (but it is in the show)! Oh I wish they had! I don’t know why they didn’t… Oh, I’m gonna cry again. Now for the song, I like this Collins. I wish he’d decide on one style though. So trying to get rough, man. Just feel it. He’s got a young Billy Joel thing going.

9) “Goodbye Love” – Lyrics are the same. Wow, Roger had emotion! Oh, he lost it. Oh, lyrics changed. I like this. But it’s not so much of a fight because Mark admits, by singing it that “Mark hides in his work.” “From what?” Roger presses gently. Mark continues with what Adam’s Roger will yell at him with. Roger responds with—Oh hell, just go read it.

10) “Real Estate” – It’s a bouncy upbeat number. It’s funny and silly but in the wrong place. It sounds like a fun old time-ish musical number. But not really good for this show. Plus it sticks Mark with a goatee. And Benny sounds like a big round white dude with a top hat. But hey, Alison! She speaks! Sings even! It went honky tonk. Anthony rolled an R. Oh boy. This song is so country. And terribly out of place. But not a bad song.

11) “Open Road” – Not a terrible song. Unfortunately the lyrics sound like something I would write. (I’m a not a good lyricist. Although I wouldn’t include the dead cat on the highway.) Good thing they left this one out. But maybe Adam could have pulled it off. Who knows.

12) “Voice Mail 6” – Roger’s mom sounds real nice. I mean, vocally, not personally. Anyway, I like the B-way version better.

13) “Christmas Bells 4” – Cuz Santy clause aint’ comin! Always like this one.

14) “Rent #2” – Here go the morbid “Kill myself who would care” bits again. Hey they mention Quentin Taratino! W00t! But Mark does not give a damn.

15) “Finale” – Thank god for Collins. I really can’t stand the suicidal lyrics for “Rent”. Benny’s theme! Repetition of “Alison” and that weird robotish sound. Is he drunk? He started singing “We Are the World”. Now THAT was funny. That they should’a kept in. I also like the corporate robot theme he had going too. I’m a little confused by Collins’ part after Mark says he’ll sell the camera. I guess he’s still grieving for Angel and finally lets her go, while not wanting to let Mimi go? Or does Angel appear to everyone, not just Mimi? No “Your Eyes”. Bummer. However workshop!Roger would have butchered it, so I’m not too disappointed. But Mimi wakes up with “Moonstuck! The theme from Moonstruck!” Not the same effect. Same ending though, “Wihout you”/”No day but today”.
