Back from Charlotte and the RSC shows. They were great. The End.
For "Great Book" at 3pm we (my friend Ali aka
kittencuffs and I) had seats way over in the corner. In front of the amp. First row though. We were way over on the right. So during intermission we moved over to a few nearby empty seats in the second center row. Much better.
We had late comers, two of them. My parents were probably late, but they weren't noticed if they were. They had seat right next to the door. Not a full house, but still lots of fun. Mom was really impressed with Dominic near the end, she told me. Holding all those books, I think. She could use some arms like his in her library. ;)
We only took pictures after Great Books, just chatted with the guys after America (more on that later.) I came up to the table, "Hey we made it!" (which he said to latecomers in suspciously the same tone... AND made a really outta left feild Muppet reference, talking about the balcony "Hey even the Muppets made it." ...You know, Statler and Waldorf? Hecklers in the balcony? No real heckler though, of course. I was wearing my Sesame Street shirt. And, Austin and Dom, as one puppeteer to another, you guys did some excellent doll wiggling.)
During the "bachlorette game" no one even started clapping for Dom. I had to get the ball rolling for the sympathy vote. Yes, you're welcome.
We got our diplomas signed, which we had to pick up from down the row. Somehow they missed us completely, though Dom threw them right in the center. We didn't chat very much but got a lady to take a group pic. And I took a random picture of Dom. And his torso. Don't ask. I'll explain later.
"America" started at 8 and we got to come in at 7:15 because we didn't have a thing to do. It was snowing outside but not terrbily cold so we took a good long walk until I couldn't feel my feet and came back. (We also sang "Nummy Muffin Coocol Butter" and "Tubular Boobular" for no reason other than I felt like it. 'Mystery Science Theater 3000' kick. And the Mary Tyler Moore theme. Because all of a sudden it came to me. Also on the trip up to Charlotte we saw a RSC farming equipment company sign and apparently the town of Hamlet wasn't too far away.)
We chatted with a lovely couple from New Jersey who were sitting in the same amp-facing seats we had but on the left side. We had the two seats beside them. Big difference. Late comers in the Vespuci skit. Just a line away from the DVD latecomer. Two people were "having dinner" and one lady in the front row had a broken leg. "She's feeble"," said Austin. They did the whole spit take on the dinner people and Austin flicked some water at the broken leg lady.
Another late comer came in just as Dom and Austin jump into the audience for Reed's Anagram bit. Austin perched on the first balcony rail (right over the seats we had for Great Books!) and Dom stole the very large guy's seat, right from under him. Then reconsidered after figuring the man could take him out. Reed said they used up all the latecomer jokes.
Questioning "Mr. President Bush" I asked the first question: "Who do you think will win in Nov, or do you plan on screwing with the Consitution again so you can run?" I won't tell you what Reed--er Pres Bush said, but my question got a nice response: "oohs" and laughter. Nice. And when Austin ran back on stage he pointed at me just before disappearing behind the curtain. *Special.*
But having the RSC guys know who you are also gets you a spray of water in the face during WW1. Thanks, Austin. Luckily, for me, Ali was in the aisle seat and took most of it I think. After that every time the guys came near the front of the stage the lady from NJ beside thought someone was about to get spit on or called out. Tres funny.
Packed house that night so even if we wanted to move we couldn't. However it didn't seem like very many people stayed to say hi to the guys afterward. Oh well, more time for us. I brought my Reduced Shakespeare book and my script of the Shakespeare show, so I had something for them to sign at each. Ali got her Shakespeare DVD signed that I got her for christmas. (Dom signed it "Where's Dominic?") Austin asked about the RSC OLT (Official League of Transcribers) which transcriptions I did. "None," I said, "but I'm doing the Dictionary we're putting together." Austin turned to Dom and Reed, "Yeah, they're putting together a RSC Lexicon, it seems." "Looks that way," I said. I meantioned my RSC music videos and Austin got pretty excited over those which was nice, "Those are great! You're solidfoamsoul, right? I didn't even know about that 'Prevenge' song. We saw TMBG in New Haven a while back."
Forgot to tell ya, Austin, "Prevenge" is on the album "The Spine". Which also has "Experimental Film" another TMBG great. I changed my description on the videos so it says what album. Never even thought about doing that!
Ali said, but for some reason I didn't hear it, Austin said Matt showed them to him and asked if Austin could ask me if I'd do requests? Something like that. Answer is: "Whatever you want, dears." (BTW those music videos can be seen on my YouTube profile.)
Ali also told them I did the Othello rap in English class with a friend (well, we were reading Othello) and Austin's Shakespeare intro in Acting class. I tried to get my acting class to do a few scenes from the Bible show, but that never panned out. Although my teacher did think the Tower of Babel was hilarious. He also said he saw the Shakespeare show years and years ago. It was very funny but he couldn't remember who exactly he saw, though it was the actual RSC.
The guys asked if we were driving back tonight (yes) and told us to be careful. Austin asked if they should come to Fayetteville. "Yes!" I said. (Who wouldn't?) So I better get on asking venues less than three hours drive then. Although it did snow a bit while we were in the show, it only stuck (maybe an inch) on the ground and there was a little water on the road. Actually alot better than when we were coming to Charlotte.
Anyway, we had a blast. So, I'm telling both my friends. Go see the RSC. It's the best possible way to waste your paycheck.
Pictures are as follows:
A very cool never before seen (by me anyway) promo pic. There's another (different) one in a Blumenthal program we got, but I haven't scanned it yet.

Reed "Fish Eyes" Martin, Dominic "Monkey Boy" Conti, Allison "Pinky" Therriault, Lara "Please take your green Converse shoes off the stage. - Managment" Frazier, and Austin "Dashing and Romantic" Tichenor. ((Sorry, I did have something way funny for Austin last night driving home but I forgot it.))

(Warning, nother MST3K reference)
Dommy Long-Torso, Dommy Long-Torso! The man who comes in pieces!

I just took a random shot of Dom and Ali and accidently moved the camera away before it actually took. Stupid three second delay.
"Should I kneel down?" Dom asked.
"Okay." Hey, he asked.
Cheesey Dominic shot. And I'm not talking about the shirt.

Also, there was a bank in the mall where the theater was. (And a wedding reception. Ali pointed out the hilarity of me thinking the bride looked 12 later on.)
This was a mural in the bank. Some of the faces look suspicously farmilar...
Three Muppeteers and a King from Gondor.
Coinidence? You decide...

Current mood:
bouncy
